Owen on target for Man Utd

Michael Owen

Michael Owen scored a great goal to help Manchester United beat Barnsley 2-0 in the Carling Cup.

United went ahead after just six minutes with a header from Danny Welbeck.

Owen's goal came in the second half when he dribbled through Barnsley's defence before striking the ball past the keeper into the corner of the goal.

But the match was overshadowed by some fans causing trouble at the game, and 10 people were arrested.

It started at half-time when fans broke into one of the food shops.

Eight of the staff had to lock themselves into a store room for about 25 minutes, while people stole food and money.

An investigation is under way to find out who was to blame.

In the other games, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Blackburn and Portsmouth all won to make it into the quarter-finals of the competition.
