Middlesbrough name their new boss

Gordon Strachan

Middlesbrough have announced that Gordon Strachan will be the football club's new manager.

He takes the place of Gareth Southgate who was sacked a week ago because the club's chairman didn't think he'd be able to get them promoted.

Boro were relegated from the Premier League last season and are currently fourth in the Championship.

52-year-old Strachan left Celtic in May. He has also managed Coventry and Southampton.

Before that he played football for Scotland, as well as a number of clubs including Dundee and Manchester United.
