Button could join Hamilton's team

Formula One world champion Jenson Button may be driving in the same team as Lewis Hamilton in the 2010 season.

Button clinched the world title while behind the wheel of a Brawn GP car on Sunday, but hasn't got a deal in place for next season with the team.

Button has said he wants to stay with Brawn, but on Friday it was reported that McLaren were interested in him.

McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh said: We'll hire the two best drivers available as we always have."

Just before the season started Button didn't have a team to drive for after his old team Honda quit the sport.

It's thought Button took a pay cut to make sure he had a drive this season, and then Brawn GP stunned everyone by building together such a fast car.

That speedy setup propelled Button to the world title, and now he wants more money to stay with the team.

Button's manager Richard Goddard told BBC Sport: "Brawn could have sorted Jenson out weeks ago and none of this would be going on. We've been trying to agree terms with them. He's made it clear he wants to stay."

Of course by talking about new deals, and options at other teams, Goddard may be trying to put pressure on Brawn to up the amount of money offered to Button and get a new deal in place more quickly.
