Hoy sets record for British title

Chris Hoy during the Open Sprint final

Triple gold Olympic medallist Sir Chris Hoy has made a fantastic return to competitive cycling, winning his first British Sprint title.

The 33-year-old beat defending champion Matt Crampton to win the flying 200 meters final with a track record time of 9.99 seconds in Manchester.

The victory marks a return to form for the Scot after a serious hip injury cut his last season short.

"To do a 9.99 is great. I'm really pleased with that," he said.

"We've had the world championships here three times and no-one's gone that fast."
