In pictures: Wildlife photography competition

An Iberian wolf

This photo of an Iberian wolf won the top prize in a worldwide wildlife photography contest. Jose Luis Rodriguez shot the image in Spain using a motion sensor to capture the wolf.


Fergus Gill from Scotland snapped these Yellowhammer birds when he was only 17 to win the young photographer prize. It took two days of snapping to get this winning picture.

A cat stares out a fox

Igor Shpilenok is a nature reserve worker in Russia and won the Urban and Garden Wildlife category for this image of his cat staring out a fox.

A Springtail bug

The Animals In Their Environment category was won by this image of a springtail, or snow flea, on a snowflake. It was taken by Urmas Tartes in Estonia.

A jaguar

This photo of a jaguar won the Endangered Animal category. Tom Schandy took the photograph in Brazil.
