Historic win for teenage gymnast

Brit makes gymnastics history

Teenage gymnast Daniel Keatings has made history by winning Britain's first ever medal in the men's all-around event at a World Championships.

The 19-year-old won silver in the event at London's O2 Arena while fellow Brit Kristian Thomas came sixth. No British man has finished in the top 10 before.

The event includes performances on the floor, pommel horse, high bar, rings, parallel bars and vault.

Japan's Kohei Uchimura won gold with a score of 91.500. Keatings got 88.925.

Afterwards, Daniel said ther were big expectations, but he'd managed to get through it.

"It was a dream before and now it's a reality," he said. "It is out of this world - I'm speechless."
