Bruce says end Strictly race row

Bruce Forsyth and Anton Du Beke

Strictly host Bruce Forsyth says he thinks everyone should give Anton du Beke a break after the dancer found himself at the centre of a race row.

Lots of people have called for the BBC to sack Anton after it came out that he'd used a racist word to celebrity dance partner Laila Rouass in training.

Anton apologised to Laila and she said they'd moved on from what happened and didn't think he deserved to be sacked.

Now Bruce reckons Laila's acceptance of the situation should be the end of it.

He said Anton was a "lovely sensitive" guy and that he felt for Laila.

"OK, he [Anton] can be a bit mouthy and can say quick things off-the-cuff like I do," he said.

"If someone says something to me then I'm straight back. Quick reflex of the tongue is what we've got. But when you're like that you can slip up every now and again. You can say something that you don't mean.

"But I'm sure there was nothing vindictive about what he said and it (Anton' apology) should be accepted and the page should be closed on it."
