British girls do well at US Open

Laura Robson

Andy Murray may not have done too well at the US Open but two young British girls are hitting top form.

Laura Robson and Heather Watson are both into the quarter-finals of the junior tournament in New York.

Robson, who almost qualified for the main women's competition, blasted past her Belgian opponent Tamaryn Hendler 6-2 6-1 to make the last eight.

And Watson was pretty impressive too, beating German Annika Beck 6-4 7-5 to earn her spot in the next round.

At just 15 years old Robson is already making a big name for herself in women's tennis.

Heather Watson is into the quarter-finals too

She won the junior competition at Wimbledon in 2008, and has already had some good results playing against much older players.

Watson, 17, will take on the second best player in the competition Noppawan Lertcheewakarn from Thailand in the next round, while Robson plays American Lauren Davis.
