Michael Jackson buried in America

See stars arrive for the ceremony

Michael Jackson's family and friends having been saying a final farewell to the King of Pop at a private funeral ceremony in Los Angeles.

The pop star's coffin, covered in white flowers, was driven to the Forest Lawn cemetery shortly after his three children and about 200 guests arrived.

Not much is known about the service as his family wanted it to be private.

Cameras filmed guests arriving at the cemetery, but fans and reporters were kept away by a heavy security presence.

Afterwards, Michael Jackson's family released a statement thanking fans for their support.

"The Jackson family wishes to once again thank all of Michael's fans around the world for their generous outpouring of support during this terribly difficult time," it said.

Forest Lawn's Glendale site is one of LA's most popular burial sites for the rich and famous.

Police investigation

Meanwhile, last month it was decided that the pop star's death in June was homicide, which means someone killed him, on purpose or accidentally.

Officials said Jackson was killed by powerful drugs, including one called Propofol, which is normally used to send people to sleep if they have a serious operation.
