Rangers leave it late for SPL win

Kris Boyd

Rangers needed a last-minute penalty to score an important win in the SPL, beating Hearts 2-1 at Tynecastle.

Kris Boyd was the key man for Rangers, coming off the substitutes bench in the final minutes to hold his nerve and score the winning penalty.

It was a big win for Rangers, as they played most of it with 10 men after Kevin Thomson was sent off.

Hearts scored first when David Witteveen's shot went in, before Lee McCulloch levelled for Rangers.

The three points take Rangers back to the top of the SPL, alongside Celtic and Hibernian with two wins from two games.
