Girl escapes car's cliff plunge

Watch Sonali's report

An 11-year-old girl who leapt out of a runaway car just seconds before it plunged off a cliff into the sea has said she feels lucky to be alive.

Paige was listening to music in the car at a campsite in Anglesey when she accidentally knocked the handbrake off and couldn't pull it back on.

As the car started to pick up speed, Paige threw herself to safety, seconds before the car shot off the cliff.

Paige escaped with minor injuries but was pretty shaken up by the drama.

"I was rolling towards the edge of the cliff and I was petrified," she said.

"I thought "I've got to get out" and I jumped out and saw the car fall off the cliff. I have never been so scared."

'Life or death'

Spokesman for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Dave Massey said it had been "a real life or death situation".

"She had just a second," he said. "If she had been in the car a second longer it would have been too late.

"She would never have survived if she hadn't had the foresight to jump."
