Families fight to find new jobs

Maddy meets family hit by unemployment

We've been hearing about people losing their jobs for a while now, but what about workers trying to find a new one?

It's really difficult at the moment because so many businesses are having cash problems as part of the recession.

Gerrell and Caleb's dad has been job hunting since Christmas after the company he worked for had to shut down because it wasn't making enough money.

Their dad Earl has applied for loads of jobs since then. None have worked out, but he says he's not going to give up.

"I just have to stay positive and try to keep smiling," he said.

"You can't change it so all you can do is make the best of what you've got and keep trying."

Gerrell and Caleb say they're hoping their dad can find a new job soon as they just want him to be happy and get a job he really wants.

Experts think it's going to be hard for people to find jobs for a while yet, but there is hope.

Germany and France, who've also been hit by the global cash crisis, say their money probelms are getting back on track.

So now everyone's keeping their fingers crossed that Britain can do the same, sooner rather than later.
