Premier League ready for kick-off

Ricky looks ahead to new footy season

The Premier League gets started again on Saturday, with title challengers Chelsea first to kick-off against Hull.

The Blues will be desperate to win the league after watching rivals Manchester United take the trophy for the past three seasons in a row.

United don't get their title defence started until Sunday, when they host promoted side Birmingham City.

A lot of fans will also be keeping an eye on the game at Blackburn, as they take on big-spending Manchester City.

Mark Hughes' side could line up with almost £100m of new players at Ewood Park, and have spent a whopping £67m on three strikers.

Of those, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor are expected to start Saturday's match against Blackburn with the responsibility of netting goals.

But Blackburn's players appear to be ready for the challenge, with one saying: "It's important we do our best and kick lumps out of them - fairly of course."

While some experts think United will take their fourth league crown in a row, others think this may be the year Liverpool end a 20-year wait to win the country's top division.

Big year for Burnley

At the other end of the Premier League, it could be a tough season for new boys Burnley.

Manager Owen Coyle's biggest signing is Scottish striker Steven Fletcher for £3m from Hibernian, and he will need to score goals.

But Burnley did very well last season when they beat Premier League teams Fulham, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Carling Cup.

If they can have anything like that kind of success now Burnley are in the same division as those teams it could be a big year for the team's supporters.
