In pics: Meteors hit Earth

On Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, the annual Perseid meteor shower reached its peak. People all over the UK watched the skies for a falling space rock.

The Perseid is caused by the Earth passing through a cloud of debris left in space by a comet. This shot was snapped over south London.
