Cheddar cheese is 'lost in space'

Cheese going to space

Watch the cheese being launched

British cheesemakers who tried to launch a piece of cheddar into space say they've lost track of it.

The slice of handmade cheese was attached to a weather balloon, which they hoped would travel high up into the Earth's atmosphere.

The plan was for the balloon to pop at the edge of space, and the cheese to float down to the ground by parachute.

The mission was being made to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first men to land on the moon.

It's thought to be the first time anyone's tried to launch cheese into space.

But organisers say their tracking device has stopped working, and they need help to find the cheese once it lands.
