I sang at an international music festival

Press Packer Faryl credit: Paul Brown

You may recognise Press Packer Faryl from Britain's Got Talent.

She has now performed at the opening of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales.

Here she tells us how it went:

"The Llangollen Eisteddfod is an amazingly colourful and exciting festival where people come from all over the world to a beautiful town in north east Wales to compete in music and dancing competitions.

When I was 10 I won first prize in the 10-15 age group solo singing competition at the Llangollen Festival so it was great to go back.

Winning then gave me the confidence to follow my dream and go on to do things like Britain's Got Talent and make an album.

Nerve-wracking

It was more nerve-wracking being a performer and not just a competitor this time though - the whole audience were just watching me!

We did some rehearsals and then before the show, as usual, I did some vocal exercises like scales to warm up.

Faryl performing on stage

I was nervous before I went on but once I got on stage and started singing I was fine!

I sang eight songs in the concert, four in the first half and four in the second. I had less nerves the second time!

One of my favourite songs I sang was Calon Lan which is Welsh for Pure Heart. I really enjoy singing this song because my Welsh Grandad taught me the words.

A great audience

The concert was in a massive marquee and the people at the front of the audience were really close to me.

Everything went to plan and the audience were lovely. And the two dresses I wore even matched the flower displays!

It was a wonderful feeling to see faces smiling back from the audience and to know that people were enjoying themselves.

I was so excited to be back at Llangollen and I'm following in the footsteps of my heroes Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Katherine Jenkins.

To be singing at Llangollen was such an honour and a dream come true! I hope to do it again next year!"
