Kids may be barred from sunbeds

Everyone under the age of 18 should be banned from using sunbeds, according to a group of health experts.

The group, who advise the government, reckon tanning can be really bad for anyone under 18, and want more done to keep kids safe.

They want to close all unmanned tanning salons to stop kids harming themselves.

The Sunbed Association agree about the ban on unmanned salons, but reckon kids aged 16 and over are old enough to use sunbeds responsibly.

The Health and Safety Executive say more than 100 deaths from skin cancer every year in the UK could be linked to the use of sunbeds.

But the Sunbed Association say the link between what it calls "responsible" use of sunbeds and skin cancer hasn't been proved.

In Scotland, kids are already banned from using sunbeds.
