After months of rumours, it looks like Cristiano Ronaldo IS going to leave Manchester United to go to Real Madrid.

United have confirmed they've accepted "a world-record, unconditional offer of £80m" for the Portugese winger.

Ronaldo has been a target for the Spanish side for more than a year, but United manager Sir Alex Ferguson always insisted his player wasn't for sale.

Now the club say they've agreed to let Real talk to Ronaldo after he said he wanted to leave Old Trafford again.

United described Real's offer for the 24-year-old as unconditional and said they expected the deal to be sorted by the end of the month.

Ronaldo was the top scorer last season with 26 goals, taking his total for United to 118 in 292 appearances.

He was also voted best player in the world for 2008 by other players and managers, as well as being crowned European Player of the Year and FifPro World Footballer of the Year.

If Ronaldo does sign with Real he'll be the second major signing for the Spanish side this month.

Earlier in the week, Real announced they'd signed AC Milan star Kaka for a reported £56m.
