Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel snatched pole position from Jenson Button in the final seconds of qualifying for the Turkish Grand Prix.
Vettel pulled a phenomenal lap of one minute 28.316 seconds out of the bag to take first place on the grid.
Jenson was second fastest, ahead of his Brawn team-mate Rubens Barrichello.
But it was more misery for Lewis Hamilton, as he failed to make it through the first qualifying session for only the second time in his career.
Mark Webber, who is Vettel's team mate, is in fourth place on the grid for Sunday's race, while Toyota's Jarno Trulli is fifth.
Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, both in Ferraris, set the sixth and seventh fastest laps.
Renault's Fernando Alonso starts eighth. Williams' Nico Rosberg's starts alongside the BMW Sauber of Robert Kubica on the fifth row of the grid.
