Ancelotti is new Chelsea boss

Carlo Ancelotti has signed a three-year deal at Chelsea

Days after winning the FA Cup, Chelsea have got a new manager - former AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The 49-year-old Italian has signed a three-year deal with the Blues after leaving Milan on Sunday and takes over at Stamford Bridge on 1 July.

His appointment comes after Guus Hiddink left Chelsea to return to Russia to coach their national team.

A statement on the Chelsea website said: "Carlo was the outstanding candidate for the job."

Ancelotti is Chelsea's fifth manager in 21 months following Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari and, most recently, Guus Hiddink.

Hiddink had a really impressive four months at Chelsea, losing just once in his 22 matches in charge and finishing the season by leading his side to victory in the FA Cup.

Now Chelsea bigwigs reckon Ancelotti is the perfect person to carry on where Hiddink's left off.

During his eight seasons at AC Milan, he's won the Champions League twice, in 2003 and 2007, and the Serie A title in 2004.

He has also coached Italian sides Reggiana, Parma and Juventus.
