Inverness booted out of the SPL

Inverness' Ross Tockley is sent off for a challenge on Falkirk's Steve Lovell

Inverness won't be playing football in the Scottish Premier League next season after losing 1-0 to Falkirk and ending up at the bottom of the table.

The hosts started well and Falkirk goalie Dani Mallo had to make a great save to stop Richie Foran scoring.

But they went down to 10 men when Ross Tokely was sent off for a foul on Steve Lovell, then Michael Higdon came on and scored to seal Falkirk's SPL future.

Unfortunately for Inverness, it means they go down to the first division.

St Mirren narrowly avoided relegation after losing 1-0 to Hamilton Academicals.

They ended up with the same points as Inverness, but were saved on goal difference.

Meanwhile, either Celtic or Rangers will be crowned SPL champions on Sunday.

Celtic's recent 0-0 draw away to Hibernian means if Rangers can win their clash against Dundee United they'll become the SPL champions.

Even if the Gers don't win, they'll still lift the trophy as long as they get a better result than their rivals.
