Celtic edge in front of Rangers

Glenn Loovens scores for Celtic

The race for the Scottish Premier League crown looks like going all the way after Celtic beat Dundee United.

The 2-1 triumph for Celtic means they go back to the top of the table, one point ahead of local rivals Rangers.

However, Rangers have played one game fewer than Celtic, and if they win their next match on Wednesday will take over at the top again.

Celtic's goals came from Glenn Loovens and Georgios Samaras, although Dundee United scored through David Robertson.

Top of the SPL

2 - Rangers - Pl 35 - Pts 79
3 - Hearts - Pl 35 - Pts 54
4 - Dundee Utd - Pl 35 - Pts 53

That goal came after 57 minutes, and made it a tense finish for Celtic fans.

Celtic have just two games left in the SPL this season, while Rangers have three, with the first on Wednesday against Hibernian.
