Film review: Hannah Montana: The Movie

Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana The Movie

Release date and rating

1 May, rating U

The stars

The main cast is pretty much the same as the TV series with Miley Cyrus as the main star of the show.

Her real-life dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, plays her on-screen dad and Emily Osment is back as Miley's mate Lilly.

The plot

It's like the TV series in that Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) is just like any other girl... except she leads another life as mega-famous pop star Hannah Montana!

Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus in Hannah Montana The Movie
Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus play father and daughter in the film too

Only people who are close to her know this though, so when her popularity becomes a problem, she's whisked away to spend time with her family in another part of America.

But that doesn't stop people trying to expose her true identity!

Best bits

There are lots of funny moments. Miley gets wind of the journalist trying to expose her, and plays a few practical jokes on him.

Also, there are plenty of song performances from Miley and Hannah throughout the film.

Fave characters

Miley Stewart and her dad Robby Ray.

Any weak bits?

It's quite long, and sometimes feels a little slow.

Hit or miss?

It's a hit - It's essentially a good story and easy to watch!

NR rating:

Four out of five

"Well I thought that it was a good movie, maybe a bit slow at times and a bit cheesy. I enjoyed all of the songs especially Butterfly Fly Away and The Hoedown Throwdown. I would recommend it for people from 7-12. 13+ may not like it that much."

"I saw Hannah Montana the movie when I was on holiday in the US this Easter. The film was far better then the TV series, but it was quite cheesy. It was also tear jerking and moving at points. I would recommend this movie for anyone aged 7-12. 13+ viewers may find it tacky. I give it ***."
