Celtic extend SPL lead

Celtic's Scott McDonald

Celtic extended their lead at the top of the SPL to four points with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen.

The first goal came from Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink just before half time. It was his fourth goal in four matches.

Scott McDonald doubled Celtic's tally with a low drive past Jamie Langfield in the 55th minute.

Aberdeen struggled to establish any authority on the match allowing a comfortable win for Celtic.

Elsewhere in the SPL it was goalless at Dundee United v Kilmarnock and at bottom of the table Falkirk who played Hearts.

The points were shared at Inverness who drew 1-1 with Hamilton. And St Mirren killed off Motherwell's hopes of a top six place thanks to late goals from Steven Thomson and Andy Dorman.
