Teachers getting classroom abuse

A teacher in class of young pupils

One in three primary school teachers say they've suffered physical abuse from parents or pupils, according to a new survey.

A thousand teachers from primary and secondary schools were asked if they had experienced verbal or physical abuse.

The results show the abuse isn't only taking place at secondary school level.

Teachers say they think that behaviour in the classroom has got worse over the past few years.

Lots of teachers say they've lost confidence as a result of the behaviour they face.

But the government says teachers have enough power to punish disruptive pupils.
