Button earns brilliant Aus GP win

Jenson Button

British driver Jenson Button has raced to a brilliant win in the first race of the Formula One season.

Button led the Australian Grand Prix from start to finish in his Brawn GP car, after qualifying fastest.

The win was the end to an amazing weekend for Brawn, which didn't exist as a team until early March.

World champion Lewis Hamilton was given third place after the race, as stewards decided the driver who finished in that position broke the rules.

Hamilton had been in third when he lost his place to Toyota's Jarno Trulli late in the race, but it was when the safety car was out, which isn't allowed.

Button's win wasn't the only success for the Brawn team as Rubens Barrichello finished second in the team's other car.

The Brawn cars were the fastest all weekend in Melbourne, and Button was driving on his own for most of the race.

Third place for Hamilton

His nearest rivals were Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and BMW's Robert Kubica, but they crashed into each other when battling for second place.

The smash ended both of their races, handing second place to Barrichello and helping Hamilton finish fourth, which was later upgraded to third.

There's not long for the teams to get ready for the next race, as it's just seven days away in Malaysia on 5 April.
