Faryl beats classical sales mark

Faryl Smith

A 13-year-old schoolgirl has caused a bit of a stir in the world of classical music after smashing a sales record.

Faryl Smith's album, called Faryl, has been snapped up by more than 20,000 people in the four days since it went on sale.

That makes it the fastest-selling first album for a classical solo singer ever.

Faryl Smith first hit our screens on the ITV talent show, Britain's Got Talent, and although she didn't win, she picked up loads of fans.

Her amazing singing meant she attracted attention from record company bosses, and she's now signed a 2.3m deal.

That made her a record breaker because that's the most valuable contract ever given to someone so young.

You might see Faryl if you're watching the rugby this weekend, as she'll be singing before the Six Nations match between England and France at Twickenham on Sunday.
