He may be the youngest ever Formula One world champion, but Lewis Hamilton was so nervous meeting the Queen he was lost for words!

The 24-year-old racing star swapped his crash helmet for a smart grey suit to pick up his MBE at Buckingham Palace.

The racing driver said meeting the Queen was "one of the most overwhelming experiences" he'd ever had.

He said: "I don't think you realise until you're standing in front of her how special it is."

The 24-year-old has achieved loads more than most sportsmen and women his age.

Hamilton said he was lost for words meeting the Queen!

At just 10-years-old he walked over to the head of the McLaren team, and said he'd like to drive for his team one day!

And last November he became the youngest person ever to win the Formula One world championship.

Hamilton said the Queen had told him she had watched the last few laps very closely, and was asking about his car.

Pressure's on

His next race is the opening Formula One race in Australia at the end of the month.

"The pressure's on now. She'll (the Queen) be watching as I go into the first race," Hamilton added.
