A black Labrador from Devon has been named the UK's pet slimmer of the year after going on a 100-day diet.

Not doing enough exercise and eating unhealthy food had sent Keano's weight soaring to 46kg - over seven stone!

But after joining the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) Pet Fit Club, the dog has lost nearly 23 centimeters off his waist.

Keano's owner said her pet had loads more energy and was like a "different dog" since he had slimmed down.

Sarah James, who got Keano six months ago, said her whole family was thrilled their dog had won Pet Fit Club.

She says: "He's like a different dog, he has so much more energy and seems to enjoy life a lot more!"

In second place was a seven-year-old German Shepherd from Edinburgh, called Alfie.

And in third place was a 13-year-old cat called Tinks from Gillingham.
