The Simpsons smash US record

The Simpsons

The Simpsons regularly tops Your Charts as your fave TV show so loads of you will be pleased that a record-breaking number of new episodes are on the way.

The animated comedy is set to become the longest-running prime-time series in American TV history after its makers ordered another 44 episodes.

The show is currently in its 20th series, matching the record of a 1970s Western drama.

But now Fox have said they want at least two more series to be made.

That will bring the total number of shows to a whopping 493.

The Simpsons was first shown in December 1989, but made its UK debut on satellite TV in September 1990.

Normally the UK gets to see the new shows after America, but next month a new episode of The Simpsons will be premiered in the UK for the first time in the show's history.
