In pictures: Famous pancake race

Here's Joe, who along with his grandma Viv helps organise the pancake race in Olney, Buckinghamshire. It's been taking place for more than 500 years.

The race is a big deal for all the town. Joe showed us how to make the perfect pancakes with plain flour, half a pint of milk and an egg.

Joe and his gran

Joe said his favourite bit of making pancakes was flipping them, he was really good. In fact he was flipping fantastic!

The races were really competitive and all the racers struggled to keep their pancakes in their pans. Check out the speed of these boys! The costumes are part of the rules.

Ricci and Joe

Ricky was determined to win his race, but Joe and his school mates had had loads of practice.

Ricky didn't win his race, but it looked like everyone had a great time racing. Stick to eating them next time Ricky!
