Tottenham moved further away from the Premier League relegation zone after beating Hull on Monday.

Aaron Lennon opened the scoring for Spurs at the KC Stadium, before Michael Turner equalised for the home side before the half hour mark.

But Jonathan Woodgate was Tottenham's hero, scoring in the 86th minute to secure their 2-1 victory.

Harry Redknapp's side picked up three points to move five points clear of the drop zone.

Redknapp said: "They made it difficult in the first half, they worked their socks off and were always a big threat at set plays.

"But in the second half we created the better chances and were the better team and it's a terrific result for us."

Pick up

Hull have only won one match in their last 17 league matches.

Manager Phil Brown said: "We can't lose games like that. We've got to learn the little details we need to pick up on.

"But I believe we have enough ability and character in the camp to get through this poor spell."
