Bond star to play Tintin baddie

Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig, who's best known for playing the secret agent James Bond, has signed up to play the villain in the new Tintin movie.

The 40-year-old actor will play Red Rackham, and Jamie Bell, who starred in the film Billy Elliot, will play the young reporter Tintin.

Filming for The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn has already begun.

The movie is expected to hit cinema screens in 2011.

The film is being directed by Steven Speilberg.

Writer Steven Moffat had been working on the script, but left when he replaced Russell T Davies as lead writer and executive producer on Doctor Who.

The character of Tintin was created in 1929 by the Belgian artist Georges Remi, better known by his pen name Herge.
