Some of the biggest bands in the world were following the news on Monday to see if they'd earned nominations for the 2009 Brit Awards. Fearne Cotton hosted the launch party.
Two of Girls Aloud - Kimberly and Cheryl - were on hand to help Fearne spill some of the secrets. And the girls could be celebrating on 18 February, after grabbing two nominations.
There weren't loads of stars at the launch, but Newsround sent Ricky to see who he could track down. He managed to grab a quick chat with Laura from the X Factor.
And then he bumped into VV Brown. You may not know the name just yet, but if the music experts are right she'll be a big star in 2009.
Gabriella Cilmi may only be 17 years old, but she could be named best international female - if she can beat Beyonce, Pink, Katy Perry and Santogold. No pressure then!
Scouting For Girls remembered to pack their instruments for the launch, so were able to celebrate their THREE nominations with a song.
Duffy and Coldplay weren't at the launch, but they'll probably turn up for the main bash at Earls Court in London. They've been nominated for four awards each.
One act is already sure of picking up a prize at the Brits - Florence and the Machine. They'll be picking up the critics' choice award, which is kind of like best unknown act.
