A powerful earthquake has hit Costa Rica in Central America, killing at least three people and injuring loads.

Two children are thought to be among those who died as tremors triggered a huge landslide north west of the capital, San Jose.

The quake measured 6.1 on the Richter scale, which means it was pretty strong and capable of being very destructive.

It cut off electricity in parts of the capital and officials said there had been damage to houses and roads.
