Less than a year after signing a five-year deal to play for Middlesbrough, it looks like England midfielder Stewart Downing already wants to leave.
The 24-year-old only signed his new contract at the Riverside Stadium in February 2008 but now he's handed in a written transfer request.
It comes after a reported bid of £6million by Tottenham for Downing was rejected by Middlesbrough last week.
Manager Gareth Southgate is insisting Downing won't be sold.
And chairman Steve Gibson has also spoken to reporters to say that no senior player will be leaving in the January transfer window.
He said: "I repeat: none of our senior players will be leaving the Riverside Stadium this month."
