Tennant fit for Hamlet return

David Tennant

David Tennant has recovered from a back operation to return to his role as Hamlet on stage in London.

Tennant had to take a break from the part in December when he needed an operation to fix a slipped disc.

While Tennant has been unable to take part in the play another actor called Edward Bennett has been playing Hamlet.

Even though Tennant has made a return he may not be well enough to be in every performance until the play finishes on 10 January.

Tennant is also getting ready to return as Doctor Who, as filming on a special episode of the show is due to start later in January.

On Saturday Tennant's replacement as the Doctor, 26-year-old Matt Smith, was revealed to fans.
