Tom Chambers is Strictly champion

The moment the result was announced

Tom Chambers won BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing, beating former S Club Seven star Rachel Stevens in the public vote in the final.

Tom performed four dances with his professional partner Camilla Dallerup.

After hearing he'd won, the actor, who got married during the series, said: "The first person I want to thank is my wife."

Lisa Snowdon was eliminated after the first round of public voting, despite getting perfect marks from the judges.

Presenters Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly opened the grand final by apologising to viewers for the voting problems in last week's show.

Then the three celebrities each performed two dances - ballroom and Latin.

Lisa was awarded the maximum score of 80 by the judges, Rachel was in second place with 79, while Tom scored 73.

When the results were put together with last week's semi-final and changed into new points, Rachel and Lisa had three, and Tom had one.

But the public chose to save Tom and Rachel, so the pair went on to compete for the title, and a fresh public vote decided Tom should be the winner.

After hearing the news, Tom praised his partner Camilla, saying: "Tonight is about you because you absolutely deserve this more than anyone."

Rachel said she had "adored" dancing with her partner Vincent Simone.

She added: "I've just had the best time of my life. I want to thank everybody behind the scenes of this show, I want to thank the judges for giving me this opportunity; everyone is amazing."
