Villa lose to Hamburg in Uefa Cup

Aston Villa lost 3-1 to German side Hamburg in the Uefa Cup on Wednesday.

Mladen Petric volleyed Hamburg ahead, with Ivica Olic scoring twice to give them a 3-0 lead.

Nathan Delfouneso scored the late consolation goal for Villa, who were already through to the last 32, and have finished 3rd in their group.

Elsewhere, Portsmouth ended their Uefa Cup campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Dutch team Heerenveen, but couldn't make it to the next stage.

Peter Crouch put Pompey ahead and then scored again less than two minutes later.

Hermann Hreidarsson sealed the victory for Tony Adams's side.
