Miley Cyrus up for film award

Miley Cyrus and John Travolta are nominated for a  Golden Globe

Teen singing sensation Miley Cyrus has been nominated for a prestigious Golden Globe award.

The 16-year-old has been put forward for the award for co-writing a song called I Thought I Lost You from the animated film Bolt.

The Hannah Montana star was shocked by the nomination: "I went to pick up my phone, I had like a ba-jillion texts. I was like, Oh my gosh! It's so cool!"

Miley performed the song with famous American actor John Travolta.

WALL-E

Heath Ledger has been put forward for best supporting actor for his role as Joker in the Dark Knight. He died in January from an accidental overdose.

The song Down to Earth from WALL-E is also up for a Golden Globe and the film is nominated in the best animated film section alongside Bolt and Kung Fu Panda.

Meryl Streep has also been nominated for best actress for her role in the musical film Mamma Mia.
