Jingle cats and dogs sing out

Never mind who'll get the Christmas number one, check out these carol-singing cats!

The Jingle Cats launched their first music medley of Jingle Bells back in 1993, and since then have appeared in several films and even sold millions of albums.

Mike Spalla is the man behind the live and computer-animated sequences of the cats performing Christmas classics and thinks he knows why they've been so successful.

"People love to relate to their animals and they love to see animals acting like humans and so when they're singing, they're acting like humans," he said.

"The music is universal. These songs were written hundreds of years ago, most of them, and they're the ones that everyone loves and there's no language barrier because everyone understands a bark and a meow."
