Nightmare for stranded travellers

Stranded tourists at Bangkok airport

Travellers stranded in Thailand after anti-government protesters shut down Bangkok's main airports six days ago, could be stuck there for days.

About 100,000 people have been trapped in Thailand since Tuesday and officials say the international airport will be closed until at least Monday night.

The protestors have said they won't give up control of the airport until the government in Thailand resigns.

But the Thai government has ordered the police to move them on.

Most of the protestors are part of a group called the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD).

About 50 of them were hurt as they demonstrated outside a government building on Saturday, and there are fears that there might be more violence.

Although there are thousands of protestors who don't like the government, there are also loads of people who think it is doing a good job.

A demonstration supporting the government is expected to be held on Sunday and some people are worried that if they see the protestors it could cause trouble.

Going home

Meanwhile, some of the stranded travellers have been trying to get to smaller airports around the country so they can get home.

Others are waiting for the protests to end.
