Arctic weather's blasting Britain

Snow drifts near Whitby

If you've woken up this morning to find it's really cold and there's a blanket of snow outside, you're not alone.

Temperatures have dropped and snow has been falling in loads of places across the UK because of freezing winds being blasted over from the Arctic.

The snow showers started in Scotland and have been moving steadily south.

Now weather forecasters say northern England, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of the west, the Midlands and south east will all be affected.

The snow and freezing rain has already led to several roads being closed and drivers are being warned to be extra careful in the icy conditions.

But if you're a snow fan, make the most of it.

Experts reckon that after today's heavy snow, things should start to warm up again in most places.
