School bag 'saves' girl in crash

An 11-year-old girl had a lucky escape when she was hit by a car on her way home from school, and it's all thanks to her school bag!

Ayse was crossing the road when she was hit by the car and thrown into the air, but her bag, which was full of her PE kit and books, cushioned her fall.

Earlier, she'd been told off for not wearing her bag properly, on her back.

But doctors say it was wearing her bag on her shoulder that stopped Ayse being more seriously hurt or even killed.

Amazingly, Ayse wasn't injured and said she just had a bit of a headache.

But the paramedics who treated her said she was very lucky as it could have been a lot worse.

"It's scary just thinking about it," said Ayse. "The bag saved my life."

Not surprisingly, the bag's become a bit of a good luck charm for Ayse and she's planning on taking it to school for some time to come.
