England have been knocked out of the Rugby League World Cup in Australia, after losing 32-22 to New Zealand.

Tony Smith's side made a bad start to the semi-final match, and were trailing by 16-0 midway through the first half.

England did try to battle their way back into the contest, with Danny McGuire scoring two of their tries.

But a late try from Benji Marshall meant victory for the Kiwis, who'll now face either Fiji or Australia in the final.

Afterwards, England coach Tony Smith said: "Even in the last five minutes, we had a chance to win the game.

"We are all bitterly disappointed."
