Ricky reporting from the red carpet at the MTV Europe Music Awards

Loads of the world's biggest pop stars and celebs turned up in Liverpool for the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Ricky bagged himself a place on the red carpet to get all gossip from the show...

"I've just spent the evening on the red carpet at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool.

It's the third time the UK has hosted the event, but it's a first for Liverpool, the European capital of culture!

I made my way up to Liverpool from London to join the world's media to watch some of the biggest names in showbiz perform on stage.

The first stars to show up on the red carpet were Katy Perry, Pink and the Sugababes.

Take That were on hand to perform a new track from their latest album The Circus.

Leona Lewis took centre stage on the red carpet, loads of photographers wanted a picture of her!

She spent a lot of time chatting and laughing with her mate Keisha from the Sugababes.

I also got the chance to chat with footballer Michael Owen who was born and raised in Liverpool.

He told me he was really proud that his city got to host the event, plus he was excited about presenting one of the awards!

After about an hour on the red carpet the singers, film stars and TV faces made their way into the Echo Arena to watch the show.

Meanwhile, I was ushered into a huge room with loads of plasma screens to catch some of the MTV action as soon as it happened.

In the press room, I was surrounded by bloggers, busy on their laptops posting up-to-the-minute news and gossip from the evening on the internet for the rest of the world.

I thought the show was great and Katy Perry was a good presenter!

Finally, once the curtains came down and the awards ended, I managed to rub shoulders with some of the stars, all in the name of work Of course!"
