Spurs fall flat in Uefa Cup clash

Tottenham's Aaron Lennon falls down while running with the ball

Tottenham's season seems to be going from bad to worse, with their recent lack of form in the Premier League now spreading to the Uefa Cup.

After making it through to the group stages of the tournament, Spurs lost 2-0 away to Italian side Udinese.

Goalie Heurelho Gomes gave away a penalty by fouling Fabio Quagliarella and Jamie O'Hara was sent off after being booked twice inside a minute!

Elsewhere, Portsmouth were also Uefa losers while Aston Villa beat Ajax 2-1.

Skipper Martin Laursen opened the scoring within the first 10 minutes of the match for Villa, before Thomas Vermaelen equalised for the visiting Dutch side.

Both sides had other chances to scores, but it was Gareth Barry who broke the deadlock to give Villa the win.

Portsmouth lost 3-0 away to Braga in Portugal.

After the game manager Harry Redknapp said he wasn't happy with the referee of the match, as he disallowed a Portsmouth goal.
