American singer Katy Perry has been picked to host the European MTV awards in Liverpool next month.
The 23-year-old, whose single I Kissed A Girl topped the UK charts for five weeks at the end of summer, is also in the running to win two of the awards.
She's up for best new act and most addictive track.
"To follow in the footsteps of previous hosts Christina Aguilera, P Diddy and Snoop Dogg at this prestigious event is an incredible honour," she said.
Beyonce has already been confirmed as a performer at the show, while her sister, Solange, will be one of the celebrity presenters on the night.
The 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Liverpool Echo Arena on Thursday 6 November.
