Single review: Leona Lewis - Forgive Me

Leona Lewis

Release date

It's out on 3 November.

The style

This is a really funky pop song which is guaranteed to get people up on their feet.

Forgive Me has been written and produced by R'n'B star Akon, so it's got a real urban sound to it too.

The words

Obviously this song is about forgiveness! A girl has found a new love and is telling her old one that she has moved on.

Will you still be humming it next week?

It's a really catchy tune, especially the chorus, and the bass line will definitely have you dancing in no time.

Leona's voice is excellent, and although everyone will try to sing along, it's doubtful many people will be able to reach the notes she does!

Will it make the charts?

Of course it will! Leona is the girl of the moment and it would be a shock if anything she released right now wasn't a hit.

This song is no 'Bleeding Love', but it's still a great, fun tune - so good luck to her.

Your Comments

"Leona is an amazing singer, I think it is good that she is doing something different. I'm sure people up and down the country will be dancing to it!"

James, 14, Harrogate, England

"I thought the song was fabulous but I thought the video was not as good!!!"

Alisha, 11, Walsall, England

"Personally, I don't like Leona Lewis, but I kind of like this song. It's catchy, and has got a really good tempo!"

Jessica, 10, Lancaster, England

"I think Leona took a big risk with this song but blew it. She's so desperate to be famous in America she's forgotten about her past great songs. I hate Forgive Me - cheesy or what?"

Zhane, 11, London, England

"It's a great song, no doubt. But from sweet bleeding love to men dancers with hip-hop? It's a big step forward!"

Eden, 10, Scotland

"I was really looking forward to hearing her new song and she really knows how to sing. I loved it and can't wait to download it at the weekend. 100/10!!!"

Sophie, 12, Ireland

"Everyone who knows who Leona Lewis is will know that she is amazing at slow love songs. But that is what people think that she can only do but they're wrong, this song is to prove that she really can do upbeat songs and guess what, THEY ROCK! SO DOES SHE!"

Charlotte, 11, Essex, England

"I don't usually listen to R'n'B, but when I first heard this tune on the radio, I couldn't get it out of my head!"

Timmy, 15, Brighton, England

"It is alright, but is not my favourite. To be honest, it is not her best song but still I really like it!!!"

Annie, 10, Bristol, England

"The song is great and all but I don't think it's right for Leona as she's good at singing slow songs."

Adam, 11, Birmingham, England

"I personally don't like it. I don't think it sounds like her and she should do more songs like Bleeding Love and keep the same song style."

Hannah, 12, Essex, England

"Rubbish and boring. I think that she needs to keep to the old stuff like she was."

Lauren, 12, Nottingham, England

"This is a really different twist to what she normally does, but I really like it!!!"

Kimberley, 13, East Sussex, England

"I think it's brill. It's completely different to her other songs. I think whatever type of music Leona sings, they are all amazing. She's got a fabulous voice. I love her new song!!"

Georgia, 9, Bournemouth, England

"This song doesn't really suit her singing style. It was a big risk, and I'm afraid she shouldn't have taken it! I don't think it's very good, and the lyrics don't stay in your mind, so if you're recommending a song, you wouldn't recommend this one."

Emmie, 13, Derbyshire, England

"I love the song. Leona is amazing as always, but in the video it was like she was trying to be American. She should show more of her British side."

Naomi, 13, Belfast, Northern Ireland

"The song in itself is OK. Not really my cup of tea, but what I hate most is the way the video is so 'Americanised', if you know what I mean."

Grace, 12, Bedfordshire, England

"I heard it and and it rocks. It makes me wanna dance, sing and have some fun."

Shauna, 11, Ireland

"This song is so catchy, but I don't really like the video; it's a bit cheesy."

Gabby, 12, Spain

"I think Leona Lewis is great and her song Forgive Me was cute, sweet and good."

Zoey, 10, London, England

"I love this song. It really shows that Leona can do every type of song, and this really shows off her vocal talents."

Lizzie, 12, England

"I saw it on TV; it was brill. I just wanted to get up and dance to it."

Kirsty, 14, Milton Keynes, England

"I'm not saying 'Bleeding Love' isn't good, but I think it became overplayed. A lot of people got pretty sick of it by the end. This is more fun and you can dance to it! Will definitely be number one. Go Leona!"

Elle, 15, Brighton, England

"It's awesome!"

Magen, 13, Capherilly, Wales

"I love this, I think it's the total best! I really like listening to this song, I think it's her best song yet!"

Lucy, 10, Peterlee, England

"The video is amazing with dancing and great backgrounds. The song is good but not as good as the video."

Eilish, 13, Keighley, England

"Love this song, really catchy and it's a song you will like for ages."

Jade, 14, Sheffield, England

"I don't really like this song much. I heard it on the telly the other day and I don't think it's her style of music. She should go back to the other style."

Abbie, 13, Blackwood, Wales

"Forgive Me is not that bad but it could be better."

Billy, 13, Bath, England

"When you hear it you don't think straight away that it's Leona Lewis as it's got a bit more going on in the background. Usually her songs are slower and more focused on her vocals than the beat. I don't know if this is a good thing or not, but some people will be disappointed."

Maja, 13, Northern Ireland

"This song is brilliant; much better than Bleeding Love, or any of her other songs for that matter. It's much more upbeat and catchy. I have a feeling this will be in the top 10!"

Kimberley, 13, Nottingham

"This is a really funky pop song that is guaranteed to get people dancing."

Charlie, 14, Swindon, England

"Her best song, very catchy."

Adam, 12, Solihull, England

"I think that Leona's new single is OK, but she has done better in the past. Hopefully she will not let us down with the next single."

Olivia, 10, Manchester, England

"Leona is my favourite singer. This song is definitely one of her best!!"

Emily-Jayne, 11, Cornwall, England

"Great and catchy!"

Aron, 12, Nottinghamshire, England

"I didn't really enjoy listening to this song, I much preferred Bleeding Love, it had a more 'rocky' vibe to it."

Timmy, 11, Brighton, England

"Wow, that's a great song!"

Ashleigh, 14, Cambridge, England

"I think Forgive Me is one of best Leona songs ever!!!!!!!"

Nicola, 9, Barnsley, England

"It's a great song! It has a good bass line and it has lots of different instruments in it but her voice sounds perfect to the beat of the music. Fantastic song - I love it! I can't wait for it to come out as a single!"

Courtney, 12, Croydon, England

"I think that it is a really awesome song."

Chloe, 13, Auckland, New Zealand

"I'm not sure I really like it, because it does get annoying when you keep listening to it. But everyone else seems to like it. Bleeding Love is so much better."

Minnie, 14, Birmingham, England

"I absolutely loved it and it was the best song I have ever heard. It was even better than her other songs such as Bleeding Love and A Moment Like This, it is a really good song."

Catherine, 15, Crawley, England

"I don't like this new song. She seems to have been Americanised as you can clearly see in the music video for this. I mean it might be a catchy song but it's not good to sing along to!"

Rebecca, 14, Edinburgh, England

"I think it was catchy and funky, but it wasn't great. I prefer it to Better In Time, but I think Leona could have made the song better than it was. Overall I think it's a fun song and the clothes they wear in the music video are awesome:) I rate it 7/10."

Felicity, 12, Leeds, England

"At first it sounded a bit strange, and I wasn't that keen on it. However, the second time I heard it I loved its weird, catchy tune. Leona is such a great talent, and this song shows it!"

Emma, 12, Manchester, England
