Wearing ties with giant knots or the thin end at the front could be a thing of the past if one school's idea catches on.
The head has decided that all pupils will have to wear clip-on ones from now on because they can't be personalised.
The school claims that the kids' behaviour has got better, but we want to know what YOU think about the idea.
Should kids be allowed to wear their uniform the way they want?
And how do kids like to wear their uniforms at your school, is there a special way they tie their ties, or anything else?
Unfortunately, this topic is now closed, but there are Comments pages on other subjects on the main Chat index.
"Our school isn't fair. All the boys have to wear ties but the girls don't have to! The boys' uniform at our school is way worse than the girls' one."
Ian, 9, London, England
"I think the ban is pointless. Firstly, ties don't even make you look smart - they're just a piece of cloth to wrap your neck in. Secondly, I think there should be a ban on making your tie less than three inches... More than that looks OK and it doesn't look un-smart. I wear my tie about three inches long and I only do it up tight when the teachers are around (because I get detention)... but otherwise loose looks OK."
Sarah, 11, Birmingham, England
"I think that the school tie is cool because it makes you feel like a grown-up."
Abdiqani, 11, Leicester, England
"I wear school ties to school and they don't really bother me. Clip-on ties just fall off!"
Lizzie, 12, Sheffield, England
"I think you should wear school ties because they look really smart and they are really cool!!!"
Georgia, 9, Manchester, England
"Ties are OK and I don't mind wearing one as long as I can personalise it. Clip-on ones are for little children."
Christina, 13, Cornwall, England
"My school is so strict, we can't personalise our uniform at all. Our ties have to be waist length and you get a Friday night detention if you have them with big knots."
Georgina, 11, London, England
"At my school people are obsessed with short ties that are huge at the top and I never realised how silly they looked until this year. Our teachers try their best to get everyone to put their ties to the length they allow, which isn't super long but it's not ridiculously short."
Ellen, 14, Kent, England
"It is a really good idea. My school is always scruffy-looking because of the ties!!"
Avannah, 11, Glasgow, Scotland
"I really don't get ties. They look stupid, they're uncomfortable - especially when it's hot -and girls are probably never going to wear them again. And wearing a clip-on tie that can't be personalised will NOT improve school behaviour in anyway. How does a tie affect the way you act in school? It's silly."
Natasha, 14, Northern Ireland
"I think that the clip-on ties are good but sometimes everyone pulls them off and runs off with them. We started the clip-on ties at the start of term."
Iram, 11, Wolverhampton, England
"I have to wear a clip-on tie. I don't like the idea because it could get lost or somebody could take it. I have already lost mine once but luckily I found it!"
Luke, 11, Nottingham, England
"I think you shouldn't have to wear ties; they don't do anything to help your learning. Ties are uncomfortable and if you have to do them small and right up at your collar then they choke you. If you have to wear ties then I think you should be able to make them big or small whatever way you like and want to do them."
Crystal, 12, Glasgow, Scotland
"In my school, how you wear your tie is the only bit of personalisation you have - necklaces, earrings etc. are banned."
Jack, 12, Wolverhampton, England
"I don't think it is fair to make people wear their ties in a certain way. We all look the same anyway so why take away the little individuality we have left during the school day?!"
Jake, 12, Worcester, England
"Ties are boring!!! They strangle you and I want to wear a clip-on tie but we are not allowed."
Megan, 11, Northumberland, England
"We don't have to wear ties. We just wear tee-shirts and sweatshirts and we personalise them by tucking things in, and we get told off. But I think that people should be allowed to personalise their ties and the school should concentrate on better things like education."
Maisie, 13, Cambridge, England
"I think that clip-on ties are a silly idea because you can't style them yourself."
Bethany, 11, Doncaster, England
"If there is such a commotion about ties I think we shouldn't wear one at all."
Anastasia, 12, Bath, England
"Our school doesn't have ties but I think ties are for boys more so I would hate wearing one."
Emma, 13, Leicester, England
"It would be great because we are having a big crunch on uniform! It would stop a lot of people being stopped in the corridor and big knots look scruffy and a lot of people wear their ties low down."
Lizzie, 12, Wirral, England
"I like wearing my tie like a giant knot. It doesn't really make a difference; it's only a tie! It doesn't affect our education."
James, 14, Liverpool, England
"I think that girls shouldn't have to wear ties to school because women teachers don't so why should we?"
Michelle, 14, Southampton, England
"I love wearing my proper school tie because it shows independence, depending on how you wear it. They should not ban them."
Rachael, 12, Dudley, England
"Well, we have horrible ties at our school and they are a right nuisance to the school uniform. I think you'd look just as smart if you didn't have to wear them, plus you would save loads of money because you wouldn't need to buy one and they can cost quite a lot."
Chris, 13, Crawley, England
"I think ties are so cool but I don't see why we should wear them for school. And teachers say you look as smart as a businessman but they get in the way, even a clip on one. Imagine if you are doing a test - they would get in the way and they would irritate me. At my old school they bought in where you have to wear a tie, they don't make you look cool they make you look like a businessman. And what is the point in wearing a tie? You have to put it on every morning. I wouldn't manage, I wouldn't get up early enough let alone putting a tie on."
Chloe, 9, Thornton, England
"School ties are a pain in the neck!!! All teachers ever say is Do your tie up properly!!! GRRRRRRRR!"
Tom, 12, Southampton, England
"My school can wear our ties anyway we like, but most people don't wear them at all. I don't know why everyone is making a fuss, they don't affect our behaviour or education."
Grace, 10, Wolverhampton, England
"I don't see the point in ties. Teachers say that we look 'so smart' in them and try to get kids to wear them by giving rewards to kids that wear their ties, but they're just another way of fiddling about in the morning."
Roisin, 10, Scotland
"I go to a school that has to wear the clip-on ties and I hate them. They are disgusting and irritating! I don't know how wearing our old ties affects our behaviour."
Sarah, 12, Birmingham, England
"I think it makes you look decent when you have a proper tie, but it doesn't affect your education or if you come or not! I keep my tie in a fat knot but it doesn't effect my education or my friends."
Lolly, 12, Bradford, England
"I think wearing a tie is no big deal. Why is everyone making a fuss over it?"
Hannah, 12, London, England
"Ties are annoying and get in the way. If you're going to have any tie, a clip-on one is definitely best."
James, 10, West Sussex, England
"I hate them; they are really annoying!"
Georgia, 10, Kent, England
"I think they're really cool and make you look smart but our school doesn't have any."
Bloom, 13, Kent, England
"I wear a tie for my school but everyone has it SHORT, even the new year sevens."
Rachel, 11, Manchester, England
"Ties should be allowed, big or small. We come to learn at school - isn't that enough?"
Anisah, 12, Bradford, England
"My school has no uniform so to me it is bad enough having to wear a tie. You should at least be allowed to tie it how you want!"

"I think it is silly that the boys and girls have to wear clip-on ties instead of normal ones."
Laura, 10, Northern Ireland
"I think school ties are cool."
Liam, 9, Birmingham, England
"I think clip-on ones are better because you won't have too much fuss putting them on. This way you won't be late for school."
Anam, 12, London, England
"We used to wear our ties low and short with a big knot, but then we got a new head teacher who didn't like us having them like that so now we have to wear clip-on ties and blazers but the ties are horrible and the blazers are worse."
Millie, 13, Lincolnshire, England
"Everyone is dressed correctly in our school, because we have polo shirts and jumpers. But the clip-on ties are a good idea."
Anna, 12, North Wales
"Surely schools should stop wasting time on petty things like uniform and pay more attention our education!"
Alice, 13, Durham, England
"I like ties at school because you can wear them short, long, big knot or small knot but maybe they should do an option of clip-on ties so you can choose what YOU want to wear."
Georgina, 11, Cornwall, England
"We have to wear ties; it's part of the uniform and it's also my favourite. I think ties look cool and are cool."
Leoni, 14, Glasgow, Scotland
"I think clip-on ties are a good idea because with normal ties if you wear it long people think you're a geek but with clip-ons they are all the same length so there wouldn't be as much bullying."
Sophie, 12, South Wales
"You should be allowed to wear your tie any way you want, just not the way the teachers don't like (as in the small thin bit at the front) but it is not fair if you force a child's style to be different."
Erin, 13, Glasgow, Scotland
"At my school nearly everyone messes with their tie and they don't get told off."
Sophie, 12, Plymouth, England

Ro, 12, Southampton, England
"I think school ties make us all look quite smart."

"I don't think that we need ties to look smart."
Sabha, 13, Reading, England
"I think big knots LOOK GREAT!!! I do my tie really short with a massive knot. I think clip-on ties aren't a good idea as you can't personalise them but on the other hand you don't have to spend hours in the morning and at the end of PE trying to perfect your tie."
Annabel, 13, Blackpool, England
"Well, at the end of the day, we are still wearing the uniform. Why do we have to be smart in school? Only we are going to see it."
Selina, 14, Birmingham, England
"I think ties make you look smarter. But it's really stupid how the kids' behaviour has got better over a tie. I think children should be able to wear any tie they want."
Agne, 9, London, England
"We have to wear clip-on ties if we are caught with the knot too big three times."
Jess, 13, York, England

"I think that people should not be allowed to choose the style because it looks scruffy and not nice."
Andrew, 9, Exeter, England

Dani, 13, Worcestershire, England
"That's so unfair. It doesn't matter about our ties because it doesn't affect our schoolwork."
Victoria, 9, Essex, England

Aman, 12, Birmingham, England
"Ties are silly. I don't see what difference they make to school life and education. Plus when we have PE or Games at the end of the day people are late for their bus because they have to put on their tie. Ties are pointless."
Roisin, 10, Scotland
"I think those big knots look really messy! They just look like the student who is wearing the tie just can't be bothered. I think clip-on ties are an excellent idea because not only will the knot look nice but the tie will be at the right length, too!!!"
Kym, 12, Stockport, England
"I think ties are too much of a hassle. The schools should stop making the children wear ties!"
Pembe, 12, London, England
